On December 1st, 2019, the TPNPB-OPM (West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Movement) issued a press release based on a report from the Nduga Region TPNPB Commander Bridgen Egianus Kogeya.
The press release denied a recent TNI (Indonesian Armed Forces) report spread via Indonesian media that they had shot dead 2 TPNPB-OPM members during a clash on November 29th, 2019 in Nduga Regency.
TPNPB-OPM stated that their forces clashed with the TNI on Friday, November 29th, 2019 at the Mugi airfield, Derakma district in Nduga Regency. TPNPB-OPM stated that as a result of the clash, one TNI member was shot dead and 2 others were seriously wounded. TPNPB-OPM stated that following the clash they were able to safely leave the area without incurring any losses or injuries.
TPNPB-OPM also reported that their troops raised the banned West Papuan Morning Star flag in the Derakma district in Nduga Regency at 07:00AM West Papua time.
