15.07.19: Commander Bridgen Egianus Kogeya of the TPNPB-OPM (National Liberation Army of West Papua-Free Papua Movement) has released a statement demanding the return of a one year and eight months old child who was kidnapped by the TNI (Indonesian Military) after they killed her mother, Mrs. Kenmalak Gwijangge, on Monday, July 8th, 2019.
In the statement, the Commander urged the Governor of the Papua Province and the Central Government of Indonesia in Jakarta to return the child immediately or face serious consequences.
The statement also called for an investigation by either the UN or a team of independent human rights investigators. The statement also condemned TNI forces for denying human rights investigators access to West Papua and in particular, Ndugama, the main area of conflict between the Indonesian Military and the TPNPB-OPM.
Attached to the statement is a photo of Mrs. Kenmalak Gwijangge with her child, which we have included above.
